Biography

After receiving a Bachelor in Music from the Federal University of Paraíba, Brazilian violinist Caroline Campos worked in orchestras such as the Paraíba Symphony, Sergipe Symphony, Bahia Symphony, in addition to the Dublin Symphony in Ireland. She came to the United States and received an Artist Certificate and a Master in Violin Performance from Azusa Pacific University, and a Master in the Teaching Artist Program from the Longy School of Music at Bard College.

Passionate about teaching music as a vehicle of transformation and social change, Caroline has taught extensively since 2008, and has worked in El Sistema-inspired programs such as PRIMA (Inclusion Program Through Music and Arts) and NEOJIBA (State Centers for Child and Youth Orchestras of Bahia), where she was also coordinator. She also collaborates with other organizations in Brasil, USA, Chile, Honduras, Ecuador and México. Currently, she is part of The Global Leaders Program cohort, works as Teaching Artist and Conductor at the Young Musicians Foundation, and for six years has been a Teaching Artist and later Conductor for YOLA (Youth Orchestra of Los Ángeles), Gustavo Dudamel's signature music education program supported by the LA Philharmonic.

Besides her teaching career, Caroline enjoys being on the stage performing with orchestras and playing chamber music. She has performed in venues such as the Walt Disney Concert Hall, Hollywood Bowl and Dolby Theater. She also loves sharing her own culture, performing Brazilian popular music as part of her regular musical life.
